Jorge Marin

Jorge Marín is an engineer passionate about robotics, automation, statistics and mountains. With a degree on Telecommunications Engineering he tried to help drones to navigate indoors where GPS position is not available or inaccurate. Got dragged to "the cloud" afterwards and has been working since then automating the hell of anything he touches. Currently he is taking over Dyson's testing strategy for cloud services. Would prefer to edit his bio if any of his talks gets accepted.

Cloud, Containers & Infrastructure

How many times have you looked at your Grafana dashboard, full of numbers and graphs, unable to tell what was the real picture and the current status of your services?

Are you sure the way you are displaying your metrics is not masquerading important events? Are you monitoring the right thing?

In this talk I will present real examples of common misconceptions while displaying  metrics in a dashboard (Grafana) and how those subtle omissions or misconfigurations can hide the information you really care about. We will also revisit commonly used metrics, KPIs and the best way of displaying them depending on their functionality.

Scheduled on Tuesday from 12:40 to 13:00 in Room 7
