VDZ21 is going ONLINE

Looking ahead, moving forward!

We hope to find you all and your families well during these challenging times.

We have been waiting until April, hoping to organize (somehow) a physical event for the 2021 edition but looking at how the situation is evolving, we are forced to postpone it again.

Due to significant uncertainty and the slow vaccination rate (in Switzerland), we are worried that moving to September would not be enough to have a safe event and be open to everyone. In November there are tentative dates for 3 Devoxx conferences and Voxxed Days Ticino in reduced formats. We will follow their organization closely, learn from them and plan the best possible event on March 2022, when we hope we can be back to normality. All the VDZ20 tickets and sponsors will automatically be moved to the VDZ22 event.

We are unfortunate, and we are thinking: what should we do during this whole year if we cannot yet meet 500 people? Since we all have reserved the date in our calendars, we decided to keep the 15th of June 2021 date for having a free online event for those who bought the VDZ20 ticket or buy one for VDZ22.

If your current situation means you cannot roll over your ticket to 2022 and really do need a refund, we totally understand and don’t want to be any extra burden. Simply send us an email requesting cancellation and refund to [email protected] with your ticket number. Please send your request from the email address your reservation was made from (that sometimes is not the same as the ticket assignee). Deadline to ask for reimbursement is the 31st of May 2021.

The online event will be a single stream of talks for ~5 hours. We will do our best to have great speakers and the possibility to interact with them and the community. We want to stay in touch with you all during this hard times.

Save the date and get ready to have some fun! In the meantime stay safe and take care of your families and friends. Please, let us know if you have any idea to improve VDZ.

Our heartfelt thanks

We are hugely grateful to the entire VDZ community. 96% of the attendees moved the ticket to VDZ21 and we hope we can keep the same rate again. This is the best support we can receive from you in order to guarantee VDZ can continue as it was before, once it is possible. A special thanks goes to the Program Committee, who will help us selecting the speakers also for the online edition.

We want to thank all of our sponsors who continue their support to organise the 2022 version. They all, despite uncertain times are offering generous support. We are grateful for your trust in us and are devoted to offering you a successful event. A special thanks goes to our 2 main sponsors VMware and Swisscom that we felt always present and supportive with our decisions during the last 12 months.

We have great friends!

A huge shout-out to Java User Group Switzerland for their massive support in covering part of our losses and offering their help for the online edition too. They are doing great online sessions at JUG.ch! Last but not the least we are immensely thankful to the friends of VDZ who have helped us with publicity, guidance, support and having insurmountable trust in us.

We are hopeful of better and safe times and will keep you informed about all developments regarding VOXXED DAYS ZURICH 2021 (online) and 2022. We wish you a healthy and very joyous spring season. Stay safe! With warm regards, Amrita, Patrick and Federico
