LavaOne has changed it’s name and joined the worldwide Voxxed family of events. Now known as UnVoxxed Hawaii, we’re coming back for a 3rd year to discuss topics you’re passionate about with like-minded people in a relaxed, quiet and engaging environment.
UnVoxxed Hawaii is an Unconference for developers around the world in the remotest place on the planet. Sessions are held mostly outside, maybe at the firepit, the hotel pool, the lawn or, preferably, at the beach across the street. Shake off the winter blues with Hawaiian sunshine and kick off the new year with a lot of aloha!

An Unconference is a participant driven event, where the agenda is decided by attendees at the beginning of the day.
No. It is important that this is a place where people can talk openly and freely, without worrying about cameras or recorders. We’ll leave the decision to each group of attendees whether they want to keep the discussion completely private, away even from social media mentions.

At regular conferences all content is chosen in advance. At an UnConference, anybody who wants to initiate a discussion on a subject puts the idea up on a board, ideas are grouped together where appropriate, and groups form to head off and discuss. Sometimes discussions might be led by the participant who suggested the topic, other times the session will be an open discussion of the topic.
Ideas are put on a board at the start of the day. Someone will take a lead in grouping similar topics together. A show of hands then determines the most popular topics that will be discussed.
