Based on an inexpensive board (Raspberry Pi 3), a couple of sensors, basic Python code and Google Cloud Platform, this demo will show you how easy it is to build your own home monitoring device. After this session, you’ll be able to DIY (Do It Yourself).
In previous professional lives, I have shipped generations of devices with an infrastructure built from scratch and developed over several years. It has been a long and laborious process. With this presentation, my goal is to inspire developers by showing how easy it is now to:
- build an IoT device with existing technologies, using on-the-shelf inexpensive material
- store my data in the cloud using serverless services
- monitor my device from the cloud
