Actually, at first I was influenced by one of my sisters who during my childhood was at university studying medicine. When I think of it now, I was quite talented for it. You see, at one of biology classes in ground school, I was praised by teacher how well I have dissected frog 🙂 – so, you have probably already guessed, at first I wanted to be surgeon.
Whether fortunately, or unfortunately, I can’t say – it is all relative to standpoint 🙂 (I am sure it was very fortunate for frogs) – at some moment my elder brother, who was studying engineering, got computer he needed for studying. That was my first contact with computer 🙂 that is how it begun, how I turned to computing technology that is.
Actual programming for practical purposes came later in high school as there I have had actual programming classes.
IT Conferences (I’ll talk only from developer’s standpoint) are the best way people (developers) get in touch with many other colleagues, share experiences and knowledge, talk with industry leaders, find out about emerging technologies and directions which IT is moving in, and of course (why not) find out about interesting projects others are working on and perhaps take opportunity to join them 🙂
Craziest thing? Discovering Clojure of course:) stay tuned for detailed explanation during my session on VoxxedDays.
