1. What did you want to be when you grow up? And how did you start programming?

A farmer, we had a few holidays on farms when I was a kid and I just loved it. I started programming at university where I was reading physics.

2. Why do you consider IT conferences important? What meaning does Voxxed have for you personally?

Get to know other people/devs and exchange ideas. Take a few insights home that help you with your current gig. Share the insights of my team with others.

3. What is the craziest thing that happened to you that involves technology?

In an IT project with the UK government, I was looking for a particular version of a particular system. The “repository” consisted of a very friendly elderly gentleman, shoeboxes full of floppy disks and CDs and a CD burner. The gentleman would look up the required version in a hand-crafted MS Access database, fetch the original and burn a copy for you. Probably not state of the art but very civilised indeed.
