If you are serious about improving your craft, don’t rely on self-practice. You need others to pair and interact with, because -remember- you’re only as good as your team. Your local Software Crafts(wo)manship meet-up is where you’ll find them. And this talk is about how to start one, so #noExcuses!
Software Crafts(wo)manship is by now an established global movement, with over 50 local communities in different cities around the world, helping software developers improve their craft. Through talks, meetups, workshops, code katas, hack sessions and a number of other event formats these communities act as the natural catalyst for the self-improvement that software professionals strive for, due to the power of social interaction and physical contact. In this talk, we will share our experiences from running one of these communities, lessons learned, difficulties we faced, problems we solved and all sorts of war stories from the trenches that should, in the end, serve as enough proof that you really should be trying this at home!
